The Press & PR side of the business evolved naturally. Simon Whittam began work as a researcher on Daytime TV back in the early 80's and then drew on this expertise when, after a period in corporate video, he went on to work with theatrical dynamo Graham Mulvein.
A theatrical genius, who rewrote much of the rulebook within theatre, Mulvein was responsible for bringing Anthony Newley back to the UK for the World Stage Premiere of SCROOGE The Musical. Whilst he focused on raising capital, signing cast [including Jon Pertwee; Stratford Johns and Tom Watt], Simon focused on PR for the show.
A hit from year one, outselling every show in London, Scrooge dominated national media causing LBC to comment it was getting 'more hype than Madonna', and Radio Two to broadcast live from the aftershow party in Birmingham.
Although the roots of the company grew from Entertainment PR and production, over the decades our scope has evolved - just as the media landscape has itself.
Initially focusing on theatre PR - where we worked for Sadlers Wells; Chichester Festival and the D'Oyly Carte amongst others - we soon incorporated personal PR/Artiste management before diversifying into Travel PR. Over the years this side of the business grew and we became known as the best contact for South West travel news.
Meanwhile other clients dominated coverage around the Tomlinson Report and changes to the UK Educational system; won the very first episode of 'Come Dine With Me' and sailed down the Thames on the Woolwich Ferry playing Wheelchair Rugby! Our scope is broad, creative, and often surprising. That’s how we ensure your success.
Clients choose us when they want to stand out from the crowd and be recognised for their quality.
If we take you on as a client, we recognise your ability and unique selling points and we will work to ensure you get the recognition you deserve. The greatest 'buzz' for us is seeing clients prosper and grow, and seeing you in print or TV, on the Radio, or pasted on a wall in Walford or Wetherfield (Scrooge posters made it to both), excites us just as much as it always did. We can't work with clients we don't believe in - we can never give our best in such cases - but for those we pick, we give our all and don't rest until we believe we have exhausted all channels available, including many that other agencies would never have considered... call us and we'll tell you about NEC Harlequins testing ladies' cosmetics; evacuating BBC Pebble Mill with the Jim Rose Circus and other tales...
